Caulfield Cup provides fresh hope for Youngstar
For a few brief and terrifying moments a couple of weeks ago we were convinced the Chris Waller-trained Youngstar had Winx beat in the Turnbull Stakes but...second is good.
Winner of the Queensland Oaks, Youngstar has been made the $5.50 narrow favourite for Saturday's Group 1 Caulfield Cup and Waller believes the race provides fresh hope this weekend.
“Running second behind Winx is good in any race but when it’s your semi-final run going into your grand final, it was a perfect run,” Waller said. “It showed she is up to the class and now she will be better suited to a handicap.
“The Caulfield Cup brings a lot of formlines together but she has got the right formlines if she is strong enough to cope with the pressure of a Caulfield Cup.”
There are a few more in with chances though in what is a fascinating edition of the race this year with the likes of Darren Weir's Kings Will Dream and The Cliffsofmoher both flying and well fancied in the betting.
