Early morning magic for Muguruza

Two-time Grand Slam winner Garbine Muguruza produced some early morning magic to beat Britain's Johanna Konta in the second round of the 2019 Australian Open and can be backed at $23.00 to win the title.

The players had to wait until after midnight before taking to the Margaret Court Arena, the latest time on record at the Australian Open but that did not deter die hard tennis fans from enjoying a near three-hour tussle and were rewarded with a 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 7-5 thriller.

After the match Muguruza thanked the crowd for their late night support.

"I can't believe that there's people watching us at 3:15am," she said on court.

"It was very tough. Johanna was playing very good, serving incredibly, big shots. I just tried to fit and hang in there. We play for you guys watching, otherwise, why are we here.

"I'm going for breakfast now!"

Elsewhere in the Women's Australian Open tournament, Serena Williams swatted aside Eugenie Bouchard in straight sets and plays Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska, ranked 57th next.

World number one Simona Halep played a patient 3 sets game against American Sofia Kenin and will face Venus Williams in round three.

Serena Williams is $4.00 to win the Australian Open crown, while Halep is a $17.00 chance and Muguruza can be backed at $23.00.
