Glory aiming to get fighting fit

Tony Popovic has led Perth Glory to the summit of the of the A-League, they are three points clear of defending champions Melbourne Victory but the coach isn't celebrating until the teams fitness levels improve.

There's no denying Perth are efficiently going about their business to continue racking up the points. They came back from 3-1 down with just minutes to spare to beat Wanderers on Sunday but Popovic is insisting his team train for the pace of a game over 90 minutes.

"I believe we can be a lot fitter; I don't believe we're fit enough yet to play our style of football for 90 minutes," said the coach.

"But that will grow and that will get better. It's not easy to open up and play at all times the way we want to.

"Physically it's very demanding. We've got to keep working on that and improving that, and hopefully the minutes will get longer and longer that we can dominate games."

The Glory are $2.90 to win their next game this weekend against Melbourne City, who are $2.50 with the draw $3.25 and are priced $3.50 to win the Grand Final at online Australian bookmaker Bet365.
