Tiafoe tipping fun and games against Nadal

American Frances Tiafoe who has reached the last eight at the 2019 Australian Open say's he just wants to have some fun against second seed Rafael Nadal.

The 21 year old who swatted aside 20th seed Grigor Dimitrov 7-5 7-6 6-7 7-5 to reach his first ever Grand Slam quarter final has never played the Spaniard in a competitive match but is predicting some long rallies against one of the world's best tennis players.

"I'm so excited to play Rafa. We're going to have some fun, going to have some long rallies. "Playing arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all-time, I will just have some fun out there." He said.

Tiafoe is priced at $13.00 to defeat Nadal who carved up Tomas Berdych 6-0 6-1 7-6. The 17-time Grand Slam champion who has yet to drop a set in Melbourne is $1.04 to win the match and $1.36 to do so in three straight sets.

Despite his comfortable route to the quarter final, the 2009 Australian Open champion Nadal has the utmost respect for the young American player.

"Yeah, he's playing great. He's a very dynamic player, aggressive. Of course he's dangerous, he's in the quarter-finals and has won great matches during the event." Nadal said. "He's super-quick and he's able to change direction fast. He goes to the net fast, he has a huge forehand and a good serve."
