Williams breezes into fourth round of Australian Open

Serena Williams breezes into the fourth round of the 2019 Australian Open with a 6-2 6-1 victory over Ukrainian teenager Dayana Yastremska on Saturday.

Simona Halep 2019 Australian OpenDespite the scoreline Yastremska turned in a terrific performance, after the match Williams was quick to give praise to the young 18 year old.

"I thought she did really amazing."

"She came out swinging and to be so young, she came out ready to go. When I was young I played against so many people and everyone I faced was intimidating and not easy. You just go out and swing and do the best you can."

Williams who is $3.25 to win the Australian Open will now face world number one Simona Halep who hit top form to sweep past Venus Williams and is $13 to win the title.

Elsewhere in the 2019 Women's Australian Open tournament, reigning US Open champion Naomi Osaka came from behind to beat Taiwanese Hsieh Su-wei 5-7 6-4 6-1 and Elina Svitolina also showed her mental strength from a losing position to beat Chinese world number 40 Zhang Shuai.
