Winx ready to captivate Flemington

At Flemington on Saturday, Winx will attempt to take her 28th consecutive win and 21st Group 1 victory in the Turnbull Stakes and according to trainer Chris Waller she is ready to captivate fans.

After a pre race gallop at Flemington on Thursday morning Waller told reporters: “Mentally she’s perfect and physically she’s picture perfect"

Winx pulled off a superb run to win the Turnbull Stakes by an impressive 6-1/2-lengths last year and it will be hard not to feel a twinge of emotion if she romps to victory against nine rivals in what is likely to be her final hurrah at Melbourne’s premier track on Saturday.

“She hasn’t got the world’s best rating for nothing but we just need to make sure that she stays the same and she’ll hold that rating,” Waller said.

“So it will only take a champion to beat her, or a day where she’s no longer as dominant as she has been. But there’s certainly been no signs of that.

“Luck in running is always a big part and we have respect for other runners and other jockeys, so we’ll go into the race preparing that way and hopefully she does the rest.”

It simply defies belief that this phenomenal horse is on a quest to win an unprecedented fourth Cox Plate on October 27th at Moonee Valley and nobody seems brave enough to think they might be in with a chance of ending her unbeaten streak en route.

Cherish the memories!
